One of the most beautiful songs ever sang (at least in our time) is "Holy Thou Art God" sang by Vanessa Williams in conjuction with Richard Smallwood and Vision. It is a lovely song, wonderfully performed by a gifted woman.
Above all, however, it is the title of the song itself that is the most powerful aspect of this song. "Holy Thou Art God". God has many attributes, but the one that stands out above all the rest is His holiness. Every other attribute has its origin in that one attribute: God is a holy God.
The Apostle James tells us that there is no shadow of turning with God. There is no sin with God.
I believe this truth needs to be our anchor in our service to God as we carry out our salvation and ministry to God. The Apostle Paul tells the Philippians to carry out their salvation with fear and trembling. Before we do anything else, let us realize that our God is a holy God, and let us approach Him accordingly.
Today, there is a lot of activity going on in the Christian world - much singing and much preaching, and yet there is a glaring breach in the righteousness and holiness of God's people. Sin is evident everywhere within the Church.
I believe we can only truly rejoice (sing and dance and rejoice) only when our lives are pure and holy. If not, then we have no other option than to cry out, pour our hearts to God and repent.
